Look at most any work station and you will see post-it notes reminding the worker of important information and tasks to be done. The post-it note has become one of the most used memory jogging tools in history.

The placemats at the Flap Jack Restaurants are the perfect way for you to place a note (your message) on every table in the Flap Jack Restaurants in the Greater Lansing Area. People are busy remind them that you are there!

You can use the space for a coupon that will help track the effectiveness of your ad. Just remember that there are many people that will not use coupons or may be embarrassed to take a placemat out of the restaurant. So we recommend that you place “mention this ad or coupon” instead of requiring the actual coupon for the customer to receive the benefit of the offer. Also remember this is long term advertising, make an offer that you can stand behind for several months.

Use the space to place your business card or basic business information. This is called “top of mind awareness”. Keeping your name in-front of people when ever possible helps people remember you when they need the product or service you offer. So How Does This All Work?

First of all we only have spaces available every 4 moths or so. We print the entire quantity all at once, so you are either on or off we can not add anyone mid run. The time that the quantities printed last in the restaurants varies by how busy the restaurant is, this can vary by season or business climate. We start to contact current advertisers about six weeks before the restaurants will need a new supply of placemats. We start contacting people that are on our “Interested List” as soon as we know that a space has become available.

There are only 24 spaces available at each location. The current advertisers have first opportunity to retain their space, (many advertisers have retained their same space for years).

How Much Is It Going To Cost?

First let’s look at what the other guys charge.

In 2003 we did a study to see what the other companies were charging for placemat ads. We put these results here not to criticize our competitors but to give you all of the information that you need to make an informed decision and to show the extreme value offered on the Flap Jack Placemats.

Note that the average cost for a single ad panel is $8.84 and that is for a single color ad (the whole placemat is printed in a single color).

BUYER BEWARE!! The offering found most in the Lansing area is from competitor “A”. The sales pitch for this offering is that they print 15,000 copies that will appear in 6 restaurants for 30 to 60 days. The numbers just do not support that claim. First, the 15,000 copies are being divided among 6 restaurants, that equals 2,500 copies for each restaurant. One Flap Jack restaurant uses over 550 placemats per day, so 2,500 copies would last less than a week at a Flap Jack Restaurant. To make things worse this competitor does not always ask the restaurant for permission to have the restaurant use their placemat. I have seen these placemats go unused time and time again. If just 1 of the 6 restaurants refuses to use the placemats the cost per 1,000 jumps to $11.96.

Sorry got a little side tracked there but it is important. When people like you try plan “A” and do not see any results the tendency is to think that placemat advertising does not work, well no it does not work if the placemats are in a box or even worse the trash!
